Committee Description

World War I has just ended, the Central Powers have been defeated, and their land - which comprises nearly half of Europe - is in ruins and at the disposal of the Allied Powers. Worse still, the European powers are bankrupt, have millions of young dead, and millions more returning injured. In this backdrop, some of the most influential diplomats of the 20th Century will convene at the Paris Peace Conference in order to determine the course of history and work to solve these problems. How can we avoid the political and financial instability that would otherwise eventually destroy Europe? Moreover, what are the greater values we must work towards espousing? Both the Allied and Central Powers will work together and engage in heated debate on matters that will shape the face of international politics in the short and long-term. How should German and Austrian territory be distributed? What sort of government should dominate: self-determination or colonialism? Is a League of Nations where states come together to resolve their issues possible? And how do we implement the ideas we decide are key? It is up to you to learn from the mistakes of the Paris Peace Conference in 1919 and rewrite history to determine how it will unfold!
